Simple maintenance on regular basis can ensure that your washer dryer is trouble-free all the time as well as longevity of the machine. Besides, the well-maintained provides better wash to your clothes.

Monthly maintenance

Once a month, check and clean the detergent tray in the washer dryer. If the water pressure is too less or the detergent is used too much, it will cause clogging up of detergent tray resulting in improper wash of your clothes. So, remove the tray and clean it and also remember to inspect recess for any detergent build-up

One of the sources of detergent build-up is the use of soft water. Your washer dryer gets clogged up with detergent if the water is too soft. To prevent this, use lime scale detergent remover once a month. This will effectively increase the life of your washer dryer too.

The door glass of your washer dryer should also be inspected for any lime scale or debris which usually causes leaking of water between the door and the glass. To clean the glass, just use some coarse, wet cloth to wipe off any debris both on surface of the door as well as the door seal.

Check to see that the door seal is in good condition. If it needs to be replaced, choose the recommended door seal for your model. Removing and fixing it simple and you can find the instructions on the package of door seal.

Check the condition of hose taps by operating them. If you find that water rushes out, there could be some leakage between the inlet valves and taps.

Every month, set the washer dryer in hot cycle and run the machine without clothes. Also use lime scale and detergent remover to clean the machine thoroughly.

What you should do every six months

Washer dryer has a lint filter which picks up debris, small objects etc. When it is blocked, the water is not drained out resulting in leakage from the machine. To clean the lint filter, remove filter cap and take out the filter. Remove the debris and fluff and place the filter under running water before refitting it.

If your washer dryer has the catch pot and is clogged with debris, you need to remove it from the machine and clean it at least every six months. Make sure that the machine is turned off and the inlet hoses are disconnected. Then, place the machine face down and detach the clip that connects hose to the catch pot and then draw it from the machine and remove the debris and refit the catch pot.

The inlet hoses which are secured on the rear side of the machine should be checked for any defects. However, you need to turn off the water supply and detach the water connections from the washer dryer. If the hoses are defective, they should be replaced. Likewise, check to see the condition of hose filters. If they are clogged with debris or dirt, remove them and clean and rinse with water. Make sure that inlet valve is blocked with dirt. If so, clean it, while refitting the hose filter.

Other useful tips on how to use your washer dryer:

  • Make sure that the washer is not overloaded.
  • Select the washing cycle that has the highest spin speed. This will help you to reduce the wash time. Like wise, fabrics of similar kind should be dried together to reduce the drying time.
  • After using your washer dryer, do not keep the door entirely closed. This will ensure that the fresh air removes the musty smell from the machine.
